From the National
Market Cow and Bull Beef Quality Audit - 1999
Euthanasia should be considered for disposing
of downers or cattle with advanced or terminal
disease conditions; that may be more responsible and
humane than transporting an afflicted animal to a processing
plant in an effort to use it for human consumption.
From the National Market Cow and Bull Beef
Quality Audit 1999, conducted by Colorado State University
for the National Cattlemens Beef Association
I will only participate in the marketing of cattle
that continue to be mobile. . . . I will humanely euthanize
cattle when necessary to prevent suffering.

Associations Quality Assurance Marketing Code
of Ethics (February 2000)
