Three Fast Food Chains Say 'No Downers'
Concerned
about human health risks and animal welfare problems,
McDonald's, Burger King, and Wendy's have all instituted
policies against buying meat from downed animals for
their hamburgers. (There is speculation that contamination
from a downed cow may have been responsible for the
fatal e.coli outbreak linked to fast food hamburgers
in 1993.)
